Synopsis

Newly-minted nature protection inspector Zharas goes on his first call with a seasoned partner Asylbek, but surprises during the search for poachers begin to reveal the dark sides of the profession.

Director's biography

Saya Omar is born in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. She is a MFA student at Kazakh National Academy of Arts in Almaty. 'Guardian of the Steppe' is her debut film and was one of the 10 projects supported by State Support - Kazakh Cinema in 2022.
