Synopsis

IMMATURE is an animated documentary that explores the fluidity and complexity of gender identity through the lens of body imagery. The film delves into the evolving experiences of a transgender gay man, capturing the nuances of his self-exploration. By highlighting the beauty in the ongoing process of becoming, challenging societal norms and conventional gender frameworks. 

The film reflects the vulnerability, resilience, and strength involved in embracing one’s true self. It offers a fresh perspective on how gender identity and body image are intertwined, inviting viewers to rethink the relationship between body, identity and self-perception.

Director's biography

Eddy Wu (1999) is a Taiwanese 3D artist and animation filmmaker based in the Netherlands. His work delves into untold, deeply personal stories that speak to universal emotions. Working at the intersection of digital animation and human emotions, he explores themes of identity, vulnerability, and connection through poetic and immersive imagery. His work seeks to amplify voices often unheard, using the digital medium to reflect on the complexities of human experience.

In 2024, he earned a Master’s degree in Animation from MIVC St. Joost School of Art and Design. That same year, he was awarded the Animation Talent Award by the Keep an Eye Foundation, supporting the development of his next project.
