Synopsis

Classical music composers used to call their first piece „No.1'. 'Lament No.1' is a story portraying a young person's first encounter with death told in a small apartment. After his mother’s death he finds himself unable to shed a tear. The rest of the family arrives at the deceased's apartment, entangled in conflict with Jan. Despite the challenging circumstances, the young man must prepare a dignified farewell for his mother. It's a minimalist, modest portrayal of damaged familial relationships, set in the chilly and gloomy Eastern European landscape.
