Director's biography
Aleksa Trayanova is a young Bulgarian animation and music video director. She has just graduated with a BA in Animation Directing from New Bulgarian University.
In 2022, she created her first animated music video for SERGIE and ROZAVO’s single “Karam,” in collaboration with Kalina Dimitrova. Together with Kalina and SERGIE, she worked on other music videos including “Beli Kahari,” “Energia,” “Revolver,” “100 Neshta,” “Dai Znak,” “Lyubim,” and “I’m so excited,” taking roles as director, animator, and editor.
Her video for Kerana i Kosmonavtite’s “Smotan,” co-directed with Kalina Dimitrova, was selected for the Golden Kuker festival (Sofia), Anibar (Kosovo) and Animest (Bucharest). Together, they also directed and created the storyboard and animation for Stefan Valdobrev’s ,,Did you drink vinegar, Did you eat a lemon?'' animated with Neli Ivanova, with Aleksa leading post-production.
During her studies, Aleksa participated in visual arts exhibitions, created album covers for Bulgarian artists, logos for companies, and directed three animated shorts:
“She Can Dance”, selected at World Festival of Animated film, Varna.
“The Chatterbox”, co-directed with Kalina Dimitrova, selected at multiple international festivals including Animest Romania, winning Best Animation Debut and nominated for Best Sound in Animation.
“Flames” her graduation film inspired by a song by Orlin Milchev (Atilla) and Nikola Saturn, selected for Kosovo International Film Festival, Anibar (Kosovo), World Festival of animated film, Varna, etc. in 2025.
She is was the main coordinator for the debut film festival Sofia Short Fest, held this June in Sofia, Bulgaria.
