Synopsis

Istanbul Convention Keeps Alive!" is a documentary exploring the Women's Rights Movement in Turkey. It begins with the landmark Opuz v. Turkey case, which laid the foundation for the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence—better known as the Istanbul Convention. The documentary delves into the political climate that led to Turkey’s withdrawal from this crucial treaty, which was designed to protect women and children. It also examines the ongoing epidemic of violence against women and femicide in Turkey, raising urgent questions about the future of women's rights under a government that uses state power to suppress women’s voices and confine them to the domestic sphere.
