The Abyss

by Albert Nakov

New Bulgarian University, Bulgaria

Synopsis

A 25-year-old woman finds herself locked inside her bathroom. As time passes, memories resurface — moments from her childhood, when her grandmother used to lock her in the bathroom. She recalls the very first time it happened, the deliberate act, and how it kept happening again and again. The fear, the terror, the loneliness. The feeling that time is slipping away. Nightmares from the present begin to blend with those from the past. How did it come to this? The story of the present, the past, and the narrative itself intertwine, leading to a deeply personal journey that poses existential questions rooted in our everyday lives.
